Many different types of polyurethane coatings are applied to fabrics, including both waterborne and solvent borne polyurethane coatings.

Fabrics coated with polyurethane coatings exhibit excellent fabric drape and flexibility with high hydrostatic resistance properties that are durable to washing and dry cleaning.

SOLUCOTE textile coatings are applied with knife over roll coaters, floating knife coaters or pad bath application. The coatings are generally cross linked by heat curing. A base coat is applied and dried, followed by the application of a top coat and then a heat cure. Polyurethane coatings are used to increase the tensile strength, durability and abrasion resistance of thread, rope and narrow webbing.

Polyurethane coatings are most often applied to synthetic fabrics including nylon, polyester, and synthetic/cotton blends.

Fabrics are coated with polyurethane coatings for a wide variety of end use applications including:

Both waterborne and solvent borne polyurethane adhesives are used for a wide variety of laminating applications. They are used by contract laminators to bond any combination of film, foam, fabric, wood, rubber and leather. The laminates are used to produce a full range of products, including:

Polyurethane laminating adhesives may be applied by knife over roll coater, brush, spray or roller.

Soluol produces solvent free waterborne polyurethane adhesives, 2-component solvent borne adhesives, 1-component solvent borne adhesives, and 2-component solvent borne adhesives in non-flammable chlorinated solvent. Soluol produces its own polyester polyols that are used to make polyurethane adhesives, which enables us to maintain high quality and competitive prices. The polyurethane adhesives may be used as supplied or compounded to meet specific requirements.

The use of latex gloves and condoms has skyrocketed in the past several years due to the threat of infectious disease including AIDS and hepatitis. Some people are allergic to natural proteins contained in rubber latex, which results in severe allergic reactions such as asthma, heart problems and seizures. The problem is compounded by the fact that the lubricating powder used on gloves absorbs the latex proteins and may allow them to become airborne.

Polyurethane coatings are used on latex gloves to provide a barrier to the rubber latex and also to provide a slippery surface to allow the production of powder free gloves. Polyurethane coatings are also used on synthetic gloves to provide a slippery surface for the production of powder free gloves. Recently polyurethane resins have been used to produce all polyurethane gloves and condoms

Polyurethane dispersions are typically diluted with water to 5-10% solids and applied to the surface of the glove by dipping.Soluol produces polyurethane coatings for synthetic gloves, natural latex gloves and for all polyurethane gloves and condoms.

Soluol Chemical is by far the number one supplier of heat sealable waterborne blister board over print varnish in the United States.

SOLUCOTE blister board coatings are proven products, having been successfully used for more than a decade on millions of cards.

SOLUCOTE blister board coatings are delivered ready to use. They offer high gloss and superior block resistance. SOLUCOTE urethanes demonstrate excellent seal strength to blisters made from PVC, PET and PETG. Boards coated with SOLUCOTE urethanes maintain seal ability indefinitely while many acrylic products lose their usefulness over time. SOLUCOTE blister board coatings meet the FDA requirements for direct contact with dry pharmaceuticals and hard candy.

Soluol Chemical supplies a broad range of commercial and custom urethane resins to the paint and coatings industry. Key technologies include waterborne, moisture cured and fully reacted polyester, polyether and polycarbonate based urethanes. Our customers include some of the leading producers of finishes for the do-it-yourself (DIY), contractor applied and OEM coating industries. Typically the products are applied to wood, metal, plastic, and concrete.

Many of our technical data sheets relating to paint and coatings applications can be found at the Chemical Document Exchange (Chemidex).

Urethane products sold to the architectural markets are field-applied coatings used on commercial and residential wood surfaces such as floors, interior trim, cabinets, etc. Concrete applications include driveways, warehouse and garage floors and bridge decks.

Urethane resins used in the industrial coating markets are factory applied or field applied in the case of heavy-duty maintenance. Metal applications include railcar and bridge coatings, furniture and appliances. Plastic end uses include interior automotive, business machine and semi-rigid vinyl.
